When reading Amy Tam's story, she shows an image that many teens are currently experiencing. Amy explains in her reading that the girl’s mother forced her to pursue a dream that wasn’t hers. When she ended up performing in front of an audience she embarrassed herself and her family. In my experience this has happened to a couple of my friends. Their parents were forcing them to be someone who they did not want to be, and I was stuck listing to their complaints. I disagree with this style of parenting because, I think that if a person wants to live their lives happy and with no regrets then they should follow their own dreams and not the dreams that their parents have sought after.
